Hongyu is currently a visiting student at the Punt Lab and a Ph.D. student at the College of Marine Living Resources and Management, Shanghai Ocean University. Working under the supervision of Dr. Fan Zhang, his doctoral research focuses on the impacts of ENSO events on the distribution and dynamics of Pacific tuna fisheries. Additionally, he has actively participated in the stock assessment process by contributing to the joint CPUE standardization work for Bigeye Tuna at the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT). During his visit, he is learning Management Strategy Evaluation (MSE) under the guidance of the lab, aiming to explore effective management trade-offs for Pacific tuna in the context of climate change.
