Sophia Wassermann is a postdoctoral scholar with the School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences in collaboration with the NOAA Northwest Fisheries Science Center, working on climate-enhanced stock assessment model for Pacific hake and with the Alaska Fisheries Science Center on multi-species management strategy evaluation for groundfish.

She received her PhD in Earth & Ocean Science from the National University of Ireland, Galway, modeling the collective behavior of pelagic fishes to improve acoustic stock assessment methods. Previously, she was a postdoc at the University of California, Davis working on portfolio effects and season timings in California fisheries. She has a MSc in Biodiversity & Conservation from Trinity College Dublin and received her BA in Environmental Studies from Vassar College. She previously worked for the School for Field Studies in the Turks and Caicos Islands and was a Fulbright grantee at the University of Iceland.
