Maurice is a quantitative ecologist whose research is focused on the responses of marine species and ecosystems to climate change. His current research combines information on species distributions with multispecies and ecosystem models to assess the potential for, and management implications of, emergent effects of climate-driven species range shifts in the Bering Sea. He is currently a research scientist with Andre Punt at the University of Washington and Kirstin Holsman at the NOAA Alaska Fisheries Science Center. Maurice earned his Ph.D. in biology from Stanford in 2024. Much of his PhD research was similarly focused on climate-driven species range shifts and their implications for predator-prey spatial overlap and interaction rates. Prior to grad school, Maurice earned his Bachelor’s in biology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and worked as a field and data analysis technician in the lab of Jennifer O’Leary studying marine population and community dynamics along the central coast of California.
